Dug Pinnick - " Thingamajigger"

 Dug Pinnick - " Thingamajigger"

This album is pure joy for the listener who likes modern hard rock with groove and melody. Pinnick has a trademark voice that of course reminds his day job band  KINGS X but in his solo works he is more funky and less complicated/progressive oriented than KINGS X. The album 's sound owes a lot to bands like SOUNDGARDEN, AUDIOSLAVE and the black funk rock community of the early 70s with the addition of the guitar driven Hard rock sound of the 670s US.

From the opener "Climbing Up the Mountain" to the closing track "Believe It", Pinnick paints his music with dark colors and high octane grooves ,mesmerizing the listener , never letting his attention be distracted. Songs like "The Alarm"and "The One Thing" are full of vigorous passion and the ability to combine classic Hard rock with modern low tune metal bands without giving land and water to the more low end sound of today's modern metal bands. His inherent sense of melody upgrades the songs and his craftsmanship as songwriter shines at songs such as  "Love Defines You" and "The valley". Staying on the more straight rock sound of KINGS X adding some extra feeling and groove "Thingamajigger" is a shining addition to Pinnick's personal discography, that would delight his old fans and earn him a few new ones more with its contemporary sound.

No exaggerations, no over technical aspects, complex timing etc, on the contrary groove, melody and immensity along with high level songwriting. An album to groove on and dream on, with.
