Southern rock is a genre that can and has included almost everything. It starts from the classic rock, blues, country based legends i.e LYNYRD SKYNYRD, ZZ TOP, ALLMAN BROTHERS, OUTLAWS the second  league-,generation  bands like MOLLY HATCHET, GEORGIA SATELLITES, DOC HOLLIDAY,Henry Paul band, BLACKFOOT  the AOR friendly 38 SPECIAL, and the revivalists BLACKBERRY SMOKE, BLACK STONE CHERRY (although not a pure Southern rock band, more a blues based Hard rock), PREACHER STONE to the more alternative ones who soon got rid of the Southern rock tag as they were mostly left wing, college boys who loved jam music and weed, KING OF LEON, DRIVE BY TRUCKERS, Jason Issbel. 

For PREACHER STONE the music style is not so easy to describe and limited. They have the rough edges and the guitar riffing that reminds of ZZ TOP, MOLLY HATCHET, DOC HOLLIDAY but the vocals are those that distinguish the band, a lot smoother, melodic, but not so commercial as 38 SPECIAL getting close to an AOR version of Greg Allman or DOC HOLLIDAY. Musically they won't surprise but also wont dissapoint, guitar driven Southern rock with class and an inclination more to classic rock and CCR than country. Stand out tracks for me are.The Devil You Know" &."Come What May" and "By the Horns " and the band is definitely a treat for the Southern Rock fans with a soft ear for melody.
