Carl Sentance - "Silent Angels"
Diversity is the name and Carl Sentance knows how to play the game. Seasoned musician with a young mind and definitely young at heart releases his new solo album and keeps surprising us all.
The two first tracks "Crazy" and "Farewell to the kings" are solid NWOBHM ,heavy, with a touch of melody, guitar driven in the old good way SAXON and TOKYO BLADE mastered. Then Carl decides to try more "modern" approaches and we have some update heavy gems where melody is combined with massive riffing and a more left wing approach like "Silent angels" or the modern metal of "Faith". With players like underrated guitar master Dario Mollo , rocksteady drummer Russel Gilbrook and bassist Wayne Banks and keyboardist Zardonic he has the musicians to back up his dreams of creating something diversified yet rocking.
On the contrary with what a lot might think, the songs are far more interesting because they let Sentance show some of the more hidden aspects of his voice as in "Sleep walk" a heavy yet more 90s influenced tune. So from classic heavy metal tunes like the mesmerizing "Pain" and furious "Americana dream" to more modern tunes see "Loaded" where BLUR meets Jimi Hendrix and the funky "Tainted" he delivers at his maximum , never forgetting his metal days at the ballad of "Savannah where he duets with Vanja Sky with reminiscences of "Silent lucidity"",keeping the listener hot and eager for more. An album for those who like metal music without age and genre limitations ,covering the genre from side to side as long as it is defined by guitars and roaming vocals.
