VA-"Killed by deaf : A punk Tribute to Motorhead"
Lemmy and MOTORHEAD are among the few musicians, bands that united punks, rockers and metal fans as they declared openly that they play rock n roll, loud, distorted but in its core and at the end, stripepd down rock n roll, twelve bar boogie, the music that inspired Lemmy and here we have the proof.
A number of bands mostly form the punk, hardcore spectrum give their own renditions to some MOTORHEAD classicas and the result is always the same, powerful, in your face, twelve bar rock n roll. Closer most of the times to the originals but without the guitar dirt that almost wiped out Lemmy's rock n roll argument, more close to the street /punk sound that Lemmy loved and collaborated with various members of it, the renditions are a first class chance to listen again to these classics with minor changes and the same rocknroll fire they have the originals.
There are covers that i liked better because they put a personal touch without moving far away from the original like FEAR - "The Chase Is Better Than the Catch", Anti-Nowhere League - "Born to Raise Hell",Wisdom In Chains - "Iron Fist" but overall, this is one of the best tributes ever made to MOTORHEAD, because the bands that participating are hailing from the same origins, based on guitar driven, distorted rock n roll music, coming from the streets to make some fuss, simply, not simplistic, not for the phoney intellectuals and the right holders /woke generation, music sharp and offensive, delivering the spirit of a man who made his own way, with no compromises, one dimension but the dimension we all love, the rock n roll one.
The punk origin of the bands add some extra street spirit to metal: classics like Love Canal at "No Voices in the Sky" , showing the roots of the song. Add to the covers a collaboration between Motörhead & The Damned - "Neat Neat Neat" previously unreleased and you have (Heads) yourself a treat. Cheers to Lemmy, the last original rock n roller.
