Holy Monitor- "Southern lights"

  Although their previous album got rave reviews and I listened to it more than a couple of times, I couldn't get connected with it. With their new work "Southern Lights" it had the opposite effect. A great album in the tradition of bands like PINK FLOYD with modern elements taken from the post rock/alternative scene with a few country/americana elements. The influences are all over these laid back album with "Rivers" and ``The sky is falling down", "Blue whale" standing out. 

  Psychedelic rock, progressive rock, post rock all fusing here in a sonic amalgam that travels you across oceans of senses and emotions. The quality of HOLY MONITOR is exactly how they infuse their influences to their sound and their songwriting skills.The songs are more than everlasting jams, they let the song breathe with great  male and female vocals that bring the "space' element upfront. 

  A great album to accompany these times of isolation. A journey to the stars or an introvert journey to the center of our own existence.
