Γιούνας Γιούνασον: Ο Άντερς ο φονιάς και οι φίλοι του

Απολαυστική σάτιρα γύρω από την εγκληματική κοινότητα της Στοκχόλμης, τη θρησκεία, το δικαίωμα στην προσωπική επιλογή της τύχης μας και πώς ένας πρώην κατάδικος βρίσκει τη σωτηρία του μέσα από το κρασί/Θεία κοινωνία και εμπνέει τη “φιλανθρωπία” σε μια ολόκληρη χώρα προς όφελος μιας άπιστης παστόρισας και ενός μισάνθρωπου ρεσεψιονίστ. 

 

 Η τρίτη δουλειά του γνωστού για τη μίξη σάτιρας και κοινωνικής παρατήρησης  Σουηδού συγγραφέα, διατηρεί το μαύρο χιούμορ της και την κριτική ματιά της στη Σουηδία, αλλά αλλάζει πορεία. Δεν βασίζεται πλέον, τόσο πολύ στις συμπτώσεις και τα ιστορικά πρόσωπα/γεγονότα, όσο σε μια αλυσίδα γεγονότων, που εμπλέκουν τον υπόκοσμο της Στοκχόλμης, έναν πρώην μπράβο, φονιά, νυν μέθυσο και σύντομα μετανοημένο Χριστιανό και ένα ζεύγος αποτελούμενο από έναν ρεσεψιονίστ ενός ξεπεσμένου ξενοδοχείου με μικρές απαιτήσεις από τη ζωή του και μίας δυσαρεστημένης από την Εκκλησία και την ζωή της παστόρισα.

Αυτή η αλλοπρόσαλλη τριάδα, θα δημιουργήσει μια εταιρία ξυλοδαρμών με τον Άντερς τον φονιά, να αποτελεί τη μηχανή και τους άλλους δύο το διοικητικό προσωπικό  και στη συνέχεια, θα μεγιστοποιήσει την ανάγκη του κόσμου, για σωτηρία, ιδρύοντας μία εκκλησία. Η μετάβαση του Άντερς από τον μέθυσο κακοποιό στον μέθυσο αναγεννημένο Χριστιανό, αποτελεί ένα εύρημα που αξίζει από μόνο του για να διαβάσετε το βιβλίο. Παράλληλα, μέσα από το κωμικό της υπόθεσης, τίθενται και μερικά πολύ σοβαρά ερωτήματα σε υπαρξιακό, μεταφυσικό επίπεδο, έστω και με τον “ελαφρύ” τρόπο του Γιούνασον, αναφορικά με τη σωτηρία της ψυχής και το δικαίωμα του καθενός μας σε αυτήν, με βάση τη θρησκεία, στην περίπτωσή μας τη Χριστιανική.

Κωμικό αλλά και κωμικοτραγικό το βιβλίο του Γιούνασον, διαβάζεται απνευστί, φέρνει χαμόγελο στα χείλη με την ίδια ευκολία που ο Φονιάς Άντερς, τσακίζει χέρια ή καταπίνει λίτρα κρασιού, αλλά έχει μια βαθιά υποβόσκουσα αλλά  πανταχού παρούσα κριτική στην Εκκλησία όσο και στον σύγχρονο τρόπο ζωής. Οι δολοφόνοι, κακοποιοί που παρουσιάζει, ασφυκτιούν εξίσου στις κοινωνικές νόρμες της κοινότητας τους, όσο και η αποτυχημένη παστόρισα ή η αστυνομική κοινότητα της Σουηδίας. Τα στερεότυπα λειτουργούν ως διαχωρισμοί, ακόμη και στις πιο ανεκτικές κοινωνίες όπως αυτή της Σουηδίας, μέχρι το τυχαίο γεγονός, η ανθρώπινη βούληση, να υπερβεί τα εσκαμμένα, που περιορίζουν τον καθένα μας.

Η απομόνωση, ο φόβος της μοναξιάς, οι επίδοξοι σωτήρες και μια κοινωνία που η μόδα και τα μέσα κοινωνικής δικτύωσης δημιουργούν σωτήρες, μέσα σε μερικές ώρες, σχολιάζονται εύστοχα και αρκετά χιουμοριστικά για να μην μας θίξουν, ως καταναλωτές/χρήστες τους, αν και τα σχόλια αγγίζουν την πλειοψηφία των αναγνωστών, που απλά θα αρνηθούν να αναγνωρίσουν τον εαυτό τους.

Εύστοχη, λεπτή σάτιρα και κοινωνικός προβληματισμός, σε ένα βιβλίο που δείχνει ότι ο Γιούνασον ξέρει να βελτιώνει τη μανιέρα του, προς όφελος των αναγνωστών. Σε κάνει να αναρωτιέσαι ποιος είναι ο υποκριτής σε μια κοινωνία πολιτικής ορθότητας.

Jeff Kollman-"East of Heaven "

Sixth personal work from COSMOSQUAD axeman and you'll find everything, rhythmic metal shredding at 'Superstring theory' with Schenker, Satriani all around. More jazzy, fusion moment at "Loss", "Montecatini jazz" with its Django Reindhardt picking, and some eclectic  hand picking neo classical , arabesque, flamenco influenced ones at "Insomnia" and "Isolation 2020". Jeff Kollman along with Paul Shihadeh (Bass), Shane Gaalaas (Drums)and Guy Allison (Keyboards) present us with a shredding,instrumental album straight from the golden Shrapnel years. Tony Macalpine and Vinnie Moore would be proud but Jeff Kollman needs no comparisons. He is a master of his instrument himself and has the diversity and abilities spread all around the album. Listen to the more blues/Gary Moore influenced "Ghostly" and enjoy a player expressing his ideas , beyond the metal territory restrictions, limitations. 

 

 

 

What impresses me more at this album is the use of melody, instead of scales and musical fireworks, mimicking classical music that a lot of his fellow guitarists use to impress."67-XR7" is another standout track while "Isolation 2020"is self explanatory. based on guitar harmonies, the soundtrack of the lost year. An instrumental album that lets its creator explore, enjoy and share with us the listeners, musical moments of innovation, imagination and clarity.

John Mayer- "Sob rock"

 

 

If there is a time machine like "back in the future", the inventors must be NIGHT FLIGHT ORCHESTRA and John Mayer. From the cover of the album with the "nice price" tag till the last song, what we listen to here is Yacht rock,West Coast AOR,FM rock, AOR, radio friendly rock,soft rock call it what you want. If Richard Marx had met CHICAGO to jam over some BOSTON tunes with Jan Hammer bringing in some ideas the result couldn't be better. Easy listening, laid back with songs like "UI guess i just feel like", "Last train home", "All i want is to be with you", Mayer recreates,revives, inspires a whole lost, gone era. The one just before HIV, when hair was blowing free in the wind,with convertible ride across California, and college boys dreaming of the next golden acquisition at Wall street. 

 

 

 

No ecology issues, No Iraq wars, No 9/11, No immigration issues, No EU decline and decadence. Just a good feeling album, from the golden days of the 80s. An album that can bring a smile on your face with its well crafted tunes, where melody and optimism are among the main ingredients. REO SPEEDWAGON could be proud of their student.John Mayer proves he knows to handle guitar as well as Knopfler and Clapton adding the right notes at this summer feel release. An album to dance,travel and smile along.

Phil Vincent-"Stigmata"

 

Modern sounding hard rock from a truly underrated artist. A mix between SURVIVOR, KANSAS and partly STYX with a polished production and from the opener "No end in sight" you have the pomp AOR we loved in the early 90s with some astonishing guitar work, reminiscent of George Lynch fretboard fireworks. 'Darkness" comes as the full flesh, beating anthem that desires airplay, with a "Runaway' era BON JOVI introduction based on the guitars riff until it breaks in a SAVATAGE style power ballad, astonishing us with the diversity of the songwriting, a truly emotional and grandiose song."Time" is a mre radio friendly, BEATLE-esque moment with some beautiful  vocal harmonies. You would expect an artist being tired and repetitive at his 23rd solo release, but the help of guitarist Vince O'Regan (ESCAPE,PULSE, KOOGA, ALIBI,EDEN,LEGION) adds this extra salt and pepper to the always creative Vincent."My life" is a stormy rocker and as most of the album's songs start with a heavy solo preparing the ground for the vocals. "It don't matter anymore" has a hint of FOREIGNER but in reality, is a high emotional charged mid tempo song where keyboards make the difference along with the great drumming by Max Piccolo. 

 

"Hideaway" is among the more heavy rockers of the album, with some battering rhythmic parts and Vincent just screams his heart out, in pure melodic rock style. 'So tired' is another example of how decent melodic/FM rock songs must be written and performed, then sung in an arena full of lighters (ok cell/smart phones for the 00 generation). "Don't turn your back" has a Dio feeling, if he ever wanted to conquer the airwaves."BEATLES are again present in a very good cover of "Eleanor Rigby", a song that as Phil says describes humanity of today, more accurate then ever."Reason to believe '' is the closing , contemporary sounding, track to a very good modern and at the same time based on the roots melodic rock album. 

 

 

 

Phil Vincent along with O'Regan delivers an album that should be at the list of the top melodic albums for 2021, but as we all know life aint fair, at least he is persistent and productive and we support his artistic dream.

 Earl Slick- "Fist full of devils"

A guitar player who lives and works out of the box. After a long time his new work is another instrumental album, based on the blues, the swing,rock n roll and when he is in the mood for shredding and fusion. 'Black" is a great example of rock n roll meeting fusion meets the blues. While the opener "Bad brew" is a dark blues anthem. Earl Slick works without the restrictions of a singer and delivers his own version of blues.

 In the covid 19 society, his screaming guitar that has the delta blues meeting TIN MACHINE is a great addition to the soundtrack of the dry lands ahead of us. Electric and eclectic , moves easily between traditional blues  "Far away' to futuristic landscapes "J.W.L" or the more jazz oriented "Vanishing point" and the end point, music beyond the normes is always there. An instrumental album old fashioned and equally modern, that combines the player's maturity with his intention to explore the genre and his playing.
