NIGHTSTALKER-"Return From The Point Of No Return"
When you're talking about NIGHTSTALKER, one of the more recognizable Greek bands in the stoner movement and far beyond, you always need to be cautious. The musical style they have chosen to deal with is a blessing and a curse. A blessing as it has strong relations with the metal's most influential band BLACK SABBATH and their US grand children KYUSS. A curse as the genre has its own limitations and only a few bands have managed to stay true to their musical ;quests. In their new album until the middle , you get what you expect. A hard rocking, stoner, groovy album that grooves and puts volume and size to the guitar riffs oozing Birmingham and Desert Nothing new, nothing beyond expectations, simply a straight in your face heavy rock album with 70s and 90s influences and some punchy and well written anthems such as "Heavy Trippin" and "Uncut".
Starting from "Shipwrecked Powder Monkey", "Shallow Grave" and "Falling Inside" the band is coming of age, stepping out their comfort zone, let the bass lines take over and gives us some true classics that combines 70s and 90s in one giant amalgam of heaviness, groove and muscle. Especially "Shallow Grave" and "Falling Inside" are for me instant classics that deserve to be on their set lists in the future years. What NIGHTSTALEKR did was use the same ingredients , dirt, fuzz, groove and personal experiences to make music they enjoy both as musicians and as fans.
Without reinventing the wheel, they make it more sharp and ready to roll on a trip to everywhere and nowhere. A great album from a band that fails to fail.
