THE KARMA EFFECT- "Promised land"
Great British Hard rock with the groove of FACES, the swagger of STONES, not so retro as THE QUIREBOYS, more close to the way THUNDER reinterpreted British Hard rock, but with their own unique blend of melody and freshness. Similarities are all over with bands like THE ANSWER, RIVAL SONS, although THE KARMA EFFECT have a more optimistic, lively approach to their music. A quintet that has songs, well crafted, aiming to raise the listener from the chair and start banging his/her head and shaking to the rhythm.Their strength comes to songs like "Livin' It Up", "See You Again", "Wild Honey" where classic rock meets 80S LA meets groove and Soul. Then twin guitar attack brings memories of the Perry/Whitford duo, where dirt meets swagger, meets disotrtion and jam over the blues.
AEROSMITH, "Rocks" era is another strong comparison, influence you can add but at the end this quintet has its own vibrant, rock n roll sound, that combines groove, strength, melody and fresh approach to a classic genre. On the other hand they try to reinvigorate and improvised on power ballad genre with "Still Falling For You" and "Promised Land" where mid tempo and emotion rules the game.
Its their 70s influences blended with their strong song craft that delivers a second album that could catapult them to the big league in the retro/70s influenced hard rock generation. It's up to them to stand on stage at the same standards they set with their studio work.
A star on the rise, the future will show, although they have the potential and the credentials.
