Orianthi -"O"

 

 

New album from Australian/Greek guitarist Orianthi and the mix between contemporary pop/rock tunes like "Contagious" ,"Sorry" and more bluesy stuff like "Crawling out of the dark" is all over the album. The sound is slick, the songs are radio/arena friendly and the distortion/effects are all over the place along with a nice late 80s shredding feeling. "Rescue me" is the finest example of the FM blues she aims at, songs that would be great at an Amy Winehouse/Lady Gaga album and audience. Orianthi is a great guitar player and a good singer but she needs a more personal approach in songwriting if she wants to leave her mark. The album is going on easy and is a great listen but afterwards it's all about what's left behind to remind and how eager the listener is to press the repeat button. Heavy yes, melodic yes, , arena audience oriented yes, unforgettable no.
